It's your first shoot and feel nervous and you don't know how to prepare.
It's very easy to forget the little things, that’s why I thought I would make a helpful guide to help you get ready. Here are some tips on how you can prepare for your photoshoot so that you feel a bit more prepared.
1. Outfits
Start planning what you are wearing to your shoot a few days before. Paying attention to the theme of the shoot, backgrounds and colours that you know look good on you and bring out your best features i.e., your skin, eye or hair colour. Have your clothes picked out, washed, and steamed the day before your shoot so that your clothes are stain free and wrinkle free in your photos.
2. Makeup & Hair
Practice creating your selected makeup looks or hairdos before the shoot so that you don’t have any mishaps on the day.
3.Personal grooming
There are a few things past clients have forgotten to do until the day of the shoot. Make sure to you have your nails clean, tidy and painted as they may be on displayed when we do various poses. If you wish to be hair free in the photos, don't forget to shave the areas that will be exposed in the outfit/s that you will be wearing.
4. Extras
Pack any additional props you want to bring for the shoot i.e sunglasses, hats etc that you feel make you feel more yourself, elevate your look or fits with the theme.
5. Touch ups
Remember to pack things that you may need in case of a make-up or wardrobe emergency i.e. hair gel to fix post rain frizz on an outdoor shoot, make up for touch ups, extra clothing, extra hair grips and hair bands.
6. Heels
If you are planning on wearing heels that become uncomfortable over time remember to bring a pair of comfy flats or even fluffy slippers to give your feet some TLC during the shoot. This will come in handy when we move from location to location. Allowing you to enjoy the shoot a bit longer and leave you with more energy to give it all you got.
7. Rain
If you are having an outdoor shoot, it is a good idea to regularly check the weather forecast leading up your photoshoot to see the possibility of rain for that day. If there is a good chance of rain during the shoot it is a good idea to bring a clear umbrella or a fashionable raincoat that you are happy to wear in the photos unless you are happy to embrace the rain in the shoot. If you wish to use an umbrella in the shoot I can help guide you on the best umbrella to use in photos so we are still able to capture you in your chosen location.
8. Poses & Angles
Get familiar with your best angles and poses in the mirror. This will help you feel more comfortable and confident in front of the camera.
